This Multi-Media installation examines the process of understanding, exploring how meanings are constructed through our perceptions, experiences, and cultural backgrounds.
By transforming the physical sculpture as a intermediary between projection and experience within, layering visuals through video projection, the work invites audiences to reflect on how visual languages shape their interpretations. It bridges the tangible and intangible, encouraging self-examination and a deeper connection within the shared space.
Ultimately, it seeks to question the boundaries of meaning-making process through visual narratives, inspiring a shared exploration of perception and interpretation.
February 2024 -- May 2024
The work invites viewers to question the nature of images and the boundaries between personal and public space. Rooted in my connection to Shanghai and London, it reflects my homesickness and cultural identity. Situated in St. Paul’s Cathedral, it redefines the interaction between artist, artwork, and audience, blending private introspection with shared spiritual experience.
October 2023 -- January 2024
The installation features visually cohesive designs centered around the motif of eyes, symbolizing diverse viewpoints. The event will invite participants to contribute personal artifacts and repurposed artworks, fostering a collaborative and inclusive creative space. The final collective work will be displayed on public billboards, celebrating community, creativity, and the vibrant essence of London.
October 2023 -- January 2024
Blending the personal with the political, the work reflects on themes of identity, migration, and foreignness. Drawing from my own journey, it invites viewers to reflect on their own stories of displacement and connection, fostering a sense of shared experience and understanding.
The project also features a research film that employs desktop filmmaking to guide viewers through personal archives, receipts, and memories, creating an intimate narrative space. The book itself is thoughtfully designed, with carefully positioned images that layer different dimensions of the migration experience—highlighting humanity’s inherent desire to find familiarity wherever we go.
Through its visual and narrative structure, Sojourn offers an exploration of the universal struggle for belonging, resonating with anyone who has ever questioned their place in the world.
February 2023 -- May 2023
The book weaves together images taken across China, Australia, and the UK, using the recurring motifs of oceans, plants, and roads to represent themes of homesickness, resilience, and the uncertainty of personal growth. The ocean embodies the emotional turbulence of separation and healing, while plants symbolize vitality and the potential for renewal. Roads metaphorically reflect the journey toward new possibilities in a post-pandemic world.
Blending digital and film photography, the work transcends political commentary, instead offering a deeply introspective narrative on belonging and displacement. Designed with meticulous attention to materiality—through thoughtful layouts, scaled page inserts, and paper textures—it invites viewers to engage with the physicality of movement and memory.
Ultimately, this project speaks to the universal quest for home, identity, and stability, resonating with those who have experienced displacement, transition, or the lingering impacts of global crises.
